EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

For many years BPAC has assumed the responsibility of ensuring emergency supplies throughout the school and in the outdoor container are sufficient to meet the needs of students and staff in the case of an emergency.

The following checks are conducted each year by the Emergency Preparedness Committee, usually in September:
  • In each classroom, including library, front office, ESL, LAC, the grab-n-go backpack is checked to ensure it contains the required items and that they are not damaged. Items are replaced if necessary.
  • In each classroom the emergency bin is checked to ensure it contains the required items based on classroom size.  Items are replaced if necessary.
  • The outdoor container (located on the school field) is checked to ensure items are sufficient in numbers, based on school population, and not outdated. Supplies were based on 2010 school population. Last replaced Jan 2011, should not expire for five years.

The staff are also communicated with, through Principal or VP, to ensure classroom emergency preparedness needs are being met.
